What is a Pressure Vessel:
It covers all types of equipment used in industrial applications with an internal pressure of 0.5 bar and above.
HAZARDS IN PRESSURE VESSELS:
• Explosion
• Release of toxic gases
• Release of toxic liquids
• Fire
Which pressure vessels require periodic inspection?
In accordance with Table 1 of Annex III of the Work Equipment Regulation:
• Steam and hot water boilers
• Heating and hot water boilers
• Hot oil and water boilers
• Liquefied gas tanks (above-ground or underground LPG and similar)
• Pressurised air and gas tanks
• Expansion/Hydrophore tanks
• Boiler/Accumulation tanks
• Painting boilers
• Cryogenic tanks
How are periodic inspections carried out? What is the Frequency of Periodic Inspections?
Unless otherwise specified in the relevant regulation, it should not exceed 1 year.
Tests performed on pressurised vessels
• Hydrostatic test
• Safety valve test
• Safety equipment inspection
• Combustion system inspection
• Visual inspection
What is the Legal Basis?
The periodic inspection of pressure vessels is mandatory in accordance with Regulation on Health and Safety Conditions in the Use of Work Equipment, Annex III, Article 2.1.
